antibiotics will do that, unfortunately. have you tried some yogurt? or taking acidophillus pills? that will usually even out the effect. ah well, it's the last day, anyway. hope you are feeling better!!

No shortness of breath, no pain breathing.

And I've only taken one puff from the inhaler, when I first woke up this morning.

The antibiodics must be kicking germ butt!

Why take my advice?

21:31 Nov 20 2009
Times Read: 1,287

Buyer beware...

...and this is another one of those "gotchyas" regarding mailing in rebates.

A customer here wanted to get a new computer for his daughters because their old one would not keep up with newer flash driven websites like Webkinz and such. So a couple months ago he started asking me for my opinion on what he could get them with a budget in mind.

My suggestion, which remained my suggestion throughout this story was, we have a custom built system on a promo for only $459. It is relatively loaded and comes with a 3-year parts & labor warranty - perfect for a PC that will be used by kids for the next 3-5 years until they go to college.

He hemmed and hawed over the price. Wanted to go a cheaper route.

He looked at refurbished, that with warranty would save him $100 or so... would probably suffice, but the cost still bothered him.

So he came to us last week with a mainboard & processor combo he got a "great deal" on from NewEgg... and asked us to simply upgrade his old system.

1. His old system was proprietary being a Gateway, so the only useable parts were the drives. So he needed to buy a new case and a new power supply and new memory.

2. The CPU he bought didn't come with a heatsink and fan, so he needed to buy one of those too.

3. And of course he needs to pay us to assemble it all.

So... assembly finished and... the mainboard he got was DOA. We tested it, we troubleshot it for a couple hours... no response from the mainboard.

The kicker... since he already cut the UPC off the box for his rebate, NewEgg won't support the board anymore. He's out of luck and out the cost of the board unless he works with the manufacturer directly.

This has been a whole lot of time, cost and aggravation that would have been completely avoided if he would have just taken the advice given in the first place.

Exactly how I WILL NOT run my business...

19:33 Nov 04 2009
Times Read: 1,473

...you're a third-party warranty provider with many, many employees. We are one of your service agents. You send us on a service and we report back to you the repair that needs to be made.

One of your employees sends us an authorization for the repair on company letter-head giving us to go-ahead to get the repair parts and schedule the service.

The customer - YOUR customer - is also notified by YOUR employee and is expecting the service to be performed.

Now you decide at the last minute that this repair does not fall under the terms of their warranty...

Do NOT call me and tell me it is my responsibility to work this out with YOUR customer.

Do NOT tell me that the money we spent on parts for the repair is non-reimbursable and it is OUR responsibility to bill it to YOUR customer.

Do NOT call me with this information and then tell me it is a different department that is actually handling this and I have to call back in and sit in their 45-minute hold queue to speak to someone about it.

BULLSHIT.

We work on YOUR behalf. The CUSTOMER bought the warranty from YOU. If you have a problem with YOUR warranty terms, you work it out.

I know all of that is meaningless to everyone who reads this, but trust me, I would never do this to one of my customers.

These big companies... suck.
